Helping a friend who got this error. Nothing worked to boot in safe mode so tried BIOS reset. That allowed login again but noticing oddities now - path for documents in properties doesn’t exist but documents are in a folder and can be accessed - WiFi won’t connect and alternates between message “can’t connect” or “passphrase incorrect” but passphrase is correct verified on connected devices by two people - network diagnostics say everything is ok just not connected? - hardware diagnostics is grayed out so maybe not installed will check .
machine is 10 years old but even 4-5 years ago it is painfully slow and run through common areas affecting performance hasn’t improved much.
is it dying? How does touchscreen interact with mouse because mouse functioning seems off. Not familiar with touch desktops but it is agonizing to help with this machine. Like watching paint dry…

Welcome to our HP community forum!
Based on the information you provided on your aging/ailing AIO, it is indeed a fair assumption that your system is about to expire.
What I would do is to immediately back up as much essential data as can be retrieved onto a flash drive or external (USB plugged) drive and start looking for a new/replacement PC. Unless you are really enamored by an AIO, I would rather recommend a regular desktop such as a Mini or Small Form Factor (SFF), or even a laptop.
Kind Regards,
