Hi
Purchased this computer https://support.hp.com/se-sv/document/c06961298 for about six months ago and I realise now that the storage capacity is too small (256 GB, really?!).
I'm an old guy and last time I upgraded a desktop PC it had SATA interface for storage. However, when I study the specifications for this computer I find no SATA, only M.2 Does it mean that modern computers do not take HDDs and I need to purchase a SSD instead? I'm not very happy if this is the case since I need much storage but not so much speed.
And if the only option is SSD and is it sufficient if it is marked M.2? Does it need to match some other specifications?
Thank you for helping me out! It feels very strange to be so outdated. 😞

Hello
Curious, when you have a small SSD, you often have a larger HDD disk
HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-1001nv PC Product Specifications
Same Motherboard
Motherboard | Erica3 |
Internal Storage | 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD |
Hard drive (2nd) | 1 TB 7200 rpm SATA HDD |
But it can be a question of price, and this one, does not have HDD
It should be possible to add one.
but it will be necessary to check if there is indeed a free space, to fix it
If you have the Sata power connector.
For the sata data cable, it is often necessary to buy it, but check, sometimes there is at least one
see if the video matches and if it helps

Thank you very much Prométhée!
Really thorough answer with links, video etc.! I can't believe that I missed that there WAS a second slot for HDD! 🤦♂️I looked just at the expansion options.
The problem is solved, I can upgrade by a HDD! Thanks again! 👍

Hmm... Maybe my reply above was too fast. In the Swedish specifications that I linked to in my first post there is no HDD drive specified. So, it can happen that there is no SATA interface in my computer either. I guess that the only way to find it out is to open it.😒

no matter the page, your computer does not have an HDD, this is what I had already read, in the technical page ..
But motherboards are the same, normally
I gave another model which has an additional HDD
Only, you have to check what I indicated directly when opening the computer ..
But I don't know if I understand what you mean now
what seems abnormal to me is that the computer is indicated with an erica3
but if we click on Motherboard Specifications
you have the erica5
Another bug

I didn't realise that when I click on the motherboard's specifications I get to a different motherboard. Bur even Erica3 motherboard specifications do not have any information about SATA bus.
As you say the only way to find out is to open it up. I wanted to avoid to disconnect all the cables etc. I hoped to be able to read if SATA is there from the specs but it doesn't seem to be possible. 🤷♂️
