Hi,
I own an HP Pavilion 570-P011NG (product number: 1JS98EA#ABD). It has two drives inside, a) SSD, 128GB, b) HDD, 1TB.
Since SMART commands/programs now tell me: "Caution, reallocated sectors" (regarding my HDD), I am looking for a replacement. But I have a few questions:
1) What is the maximum storage capacity supported if I replace the SSD (see above: a))?
2) What is the maximum storage capacity (if any) for a new HDD (see above: b))? Or is there no restriction? Do all HDDs that are sold fit in, or are there different sizes etc.?
3) Is it possible to ADD a second SSD instead of a new HDD?
4) Somewhere I read that another NVMe SSD cannot be installed because the second slot is used for Wlan. Is this right?
5) Does it need to be NVMe? In a local shop I read about 3 options: (1) SATA SSD, (2) M.2 standard, (3) M.2 NVMe. - Are all 3 possible? And if SATA is possible, could it be installed in addition to the already installed SSD (see above: a))?
6) If I choose a regular HDD (non-SSD), would an external 2.5" drive be a suitable alternative to an internal HDD?
I guess, I won't buy an SSD anyway (due to the higher price/lower capacity), but I am still curious if two SSDs can be used in this PC...
Many thanks for your attention/answers

hi
Lubin motherboard specifications.
so yes just
One M.2 socket 3, key M
128 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 Solid State Drive
Solved: Add M.2 SSD to Lubin Motherboard - HP Support Community - 7351824
In theory you can replace an HDD drive with a SATA SSD, but there may be incompatibility issues with some models
The hdd box being 3.5, it generally takes a 2.5 adapter for an ssd
If your hdd is defective, at least replace it with an equivalent size ssd
otherwise, any type of HDD disc, equivalent will do

hi
"I guess, I won't buy an SSD anyway (due to the higher price/lower capacity), but I am still curious if two SSDs can be used in this PC..."
Indeed, I did not answer all the questions, because you had indicated this
but you can find this easy
https://www.diskpart.com/windows-11/mbr-maximum-disk-size-0001.html
"Are there any confirmed compatible SATA SSDs that I could use "
I had given you an example for an M2 ssd which seemed to me more useful here given the mediocre capacity of 128 gb
but it can find i think
ex:
https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Second-SSD/td-p/6797400
the crucial mx500 and wd blue disks, works with many models..
but feedback from users about this may not be frequent

Thanks again.
My question regarding the drive capacity was not about MBR or GPT limits but about potential hardware limits of my HP PC, such as max SSD capacity working flawlessly in this computer, max HDD capacity giving no issues, max RAM and so on. Perhaps, user feedback (as you mentioned) about these topics is lacking, though.

sorry, this is probably not the link I wanted to indicate, I had two or three open
but whatever, I answered your question about the capacity, max, not indicated for HP motherboards
but this is very well explained in many websites

Well, obviously, I cannot find these "many" websites. The problem is that there are virtually no posts about my specific model 570-p011ng, only about different 570-p0xx models, so I am not sure, if those results can be applied to my specific model.

what articles are you referring to, links please?
most product pages look like this
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05388827
Lubin motherboard specifications.
you can see the indications of the motherboards, and so far, I have never seen precision on what can be installed in capacity
You will be able to find other models, same series, but of memory, never seen of installed hdd disk of more than 2 to
I have seen users, having tried large hard disks, but sometimes it did not work, but it seems to me that it was, mainly a problem of the model used, in general no news
