I plan on doing a homeserver that runs all the time:
- throtthled down CPU to 70% max.
- added 2 ram 16 gb x 2
- power performance mode
- Cooled by metal dispersing passive plate cooling
- removed a botom chassi
- visual check of a battery after 2 years of use: ok
after two years of normal home use: no significant slowdowns, boost because of added ram.

Hi @intertexty
I don't think it's a good idea, especially using a notebook, if you don't have all the security systems in place. My experience is with servers, and as soon as you go online, you'll receive at least 5,000 attacks per day attempting to break into your notebook, which will put a strain on the CPU, not to mention that by not using the security systems that a NOC can offer, you'll probably get hacked.
In short, for hardware reasons, you shouldn't put a notebook online 24/7/365.
