I'm trying to find out exactly which HP PC I have so I can upgrade the memory.
When I click on ctrol+alt+s to view system information it tells me that I have:
HP Pavilion TG01-2xxx
But when I go to the HP Support site and type in my serial number it tells me I have:
HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-2000a
I have 8gb of ram and would like to upgrade it to 16gig. So which PC do I have and what exact memory modules do I need to purchase?
Thank you for any help.

It is indeed highly recommended to pair RAM with identical RAM sticks. The HMA81GU6DJR8N-XN RAM you have is the Hynix 8GB DDR4, PC4-25600, 3200 MHz, UDIMM, Unbuffered, Non-ECC, 260-PIN RAM.
Here you go: Hynix 8 GB PC4-3200 DDR4-25600Hmz UDIMM HMA81GU6DJR8N-XN Non ECC Desktop Memory 1.2V 260-PIN - Neweg....

Welcome to our HP User Forum!
Please provide the part number (not serial number) of the RAM stick you got by following the steps outlined here: How to Check RAM Manufacturer Brand, Model and Other Specs in Windows 10 / 11 (thegeekpage.com).
Easier way:
1.) Type cmd in your Windows search bar.
2.) Right-click on the Command Prompt App, and choose Run as administrator, then click on Yes.
3.) Copy & paste: wmic memorychip get devicelocator, partnumber
4.) Hit Enter.
5.) provide RAM part number.

Best way to ID your system here (at HP support) is to provide the Product ID with the 3 letters after the # character
else I have to guess the id based on the model number
I looked at a couple of TP01-2000a parts lists and found 4 and 8 GB sticks
L98131-002 MEM, UDIMM 4GB DDR4-3200 1.2v NECC
L98133-002 MEM, UDIMM 8GB DDR4-3200 1.2v NECC
the 16gb stick was suspicious so I did not list it.
If you have a pair of 4gb you will need to obtain a pair of 8 else just another 8
Part L98133-002 seems impossible to find.
Do you have an empty slot for a second 8gb stick?
If so then best is to find who made the memory and buy the exact one
Download CPUO-z here
Run it and bring up the SPD and make note of the manufacturer and part number and raank
I would look for a used stick ":micron" with that part number with rank "2Rx8" since rank is dual.
If you need to add a pair of 8gb then there is a problem as tg01 and tp01 2000 show up as different options using the crucial memory finder and your Product ID becomes necessary to identify.

@NonSequitur777
I have 2 spaces for 2 dimms. Looks like I have 1 8gb dim installed. This is what was reported:
DIMM 1 HMA81GU6DJR8N-XN
So to upgrade to 16gb, I just buy another 8gb dimm. But it's a bit confusing what comes up when I search on "HMA81GU6DJR8N-XN" so if someone can recommend a dimm I can buy on Amazon I would appreciate it. 🙂
Thank you for the replies.

Some ideas on finding matching ram
Search for the ram using the OEM name for example
HMA81GU6DJR8N-XN HP
Look at the image and make a note of what it looks like and any identifying marks / nomenclature
Then search for the part without using the "HP" and find the same stuff
Generally the label with the OEM name allows the seller to ask a huge premium over what the exact same item goes for.
Shipping in USA for a single stick should be under $5 with slight additional for bubble wrap envelope and stiffener
