HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-1070m CTO

ETA: I chatted with Samsung and they helped me find something compatible but I can't delete this post.

I ordered the HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-1070m from the HP site. I couldn't afford the option for secondary storage at the time so I think the slot is just empty. I'd like to buy an SSD for that slot but to keep things consistent, I want it to be the same brand and type that's already there. Just with more storage.

I checked my system information for which drive it has and it says it's a samsung mzvlq512halu-000h1. I googled that and this is the only thing that came up, which is discontinued: https://semiconductor.samsung.com/us/ssd/pc-ssd/pm991-pm991a/mzvlq512halu-00-00/

My question is what specs to look for and match up to make sure whichever SSD I buy will work? I've installed drives before and had different brands/sizes mixed, but never an SSD, so I want to make sure I'm not wasting my money on something that isn't compatible with my machine. Thanks!

@GuestGuestGuest,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

The 1TB Samsung 980 M.2 NVMe SSD should work just fine.

Let's determine what motherboard you got.  Please type in: system information in your Windows search bar and click on the System Information App.

Please look to the right of "BaseBoard Product", and it should show a 4-digit alphanumerical number.  Please share.

Kind Regards,

@GuestGuestGuest,

Sure -if you need any other assistance, drop a line.

Knowing what motherboard you got would make it possible to give you precise answers.
