HP 15L Gaming Desktop TG02-0366qd (33T61AA)

I’m trying to install a PCIe expansion card into my HP 15L Gaming Desktop TG02-0366qd (Product #: 33T61AA) and running into an issue with securing the card in place.

I’ve tried both the low-profile and full-height brackets that came with the card. The low-profile bracket doesn't reach the slot properly due to the case’s size, and the full-height bracket doesn’t seem to work either—there’s nowhere on the case to insert a screw to secure the bracket. It looks like the expansion slot area doesn’t have the usual threaded hole you’d expect in a standard ATX case.

I've attached the card into the PCIe slot on the motherboard, and it fits electrically, but there’s no obvious way to lock it down physically to the chassis. I’ve looked for a retention clip or latch mechanism but don’t see anything obvious.

Has anyone else run into this issue with the TG02 series or similar HP desktops? Do these cases use a non-standard mounting method or require a specific bracket adapter?

Any help, suggestions, or even photos of how others have installed cards in this model would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for replying, @admithos

Some HP cases use a tool-less retention clip or latch system instead of traditional screws.

These mechanisms might not be immediately obvious, so carefully examine the expansion slot area for any plastic or metal clips that could secure the card.

If the case lacks a standard screw hole, you may need a bracket adapter designed specifically for HP cases.

These adapters align the PCIe card with the chassis and provide a secure fit.

Check with online retailers for compatible adapters for the TG02 series.

Hi @admithos

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It seems you're encountering an issue with the HP 15L Gaming Desktop TG02-0366qd series, where the case design doesn't follow standard ATX mounting methods for PCIe cards.

Here are some suggestions to address this:

Retention Mechanism
Some HP cases use a clip or latch system instead of screws to secure PCIe cards.
Carefully inspect the expansion slot area for any such mechanism—it might not be immediately obvious.

Bracket Adapter

You may need a specific bracket adapter designed for HP cases.
These adapters can help align and secure the card properly.
You can check with HP Support or online forums for recommendations.

Thanks for your reply. The latch mechanim you referenced in your post is only in place to keep the GPU in place and does not extend to any of the PCI slots. Attached is what the network card looks like when installed using the full bracket that came with the network card. The card is a TP-Link 2.5GB PCIe Network Card (TX201).
