Hi:

According to the product specs for your PC it already came with a M.2 SSD.

I would assume the slot is already occupied with that device, and if you wanted to install a different model M.2 SSD, you would have to remove the existing one.

The motherboard specs indicate there are two M.2 slots...one for the SSD and the other one is for the wifi adapter.

Ok if the two M.2 slots are occupied can I install the ssd intop another slot?

Or...can I remove the ssd that came in the computer and install the other one? Will I need to load windows into it?

I would remove the existing M.2 SSD and reinstall W10.

You can reinstall W10 by using the media creation tool at the link below to create a bootable W10 USB installation flash drive.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

After you install W10, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-te01-0000-desktop-pc-series/29014358

Before you remove the current M.2 drive, there should be a folder on the C:\ drive labeled SWSetup.

Copy that folder to a portable hard drive as it should contain all of the drivers and software that is currently installed on your PC.

If you look at the support page, there isn't much software available to install.

It would be great to remove the wifi adapter, use lan only, and put the ssd there but the connector is situated as such that its facing the wrong way and the ssd wont fit.

Thank you for the instructions for installing W10. Would there be any negatives to using an adapter to connect the ssd to the pcie slot?

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, that I do not know.

I don't know if you could boot from it in the PCIe x1 slot, and I don't know if the PCIe x1 slot slows down the performance of the M.2 drive.
