Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Pavillion p7-1446s that I have upgraded the RAM to 32 gb I believe ( Its been a while ago ) and a TX 650 power supply.  Im trying to install a EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti.  I have no video to my monitor.  I am not computer savvy and i do not know what to do from here.   Im trying to upgrade for Diablo 4 I've already purchased.   Help please..

Hi @tw9663

Can't find any HP specs for your PC.

You may have a UEFI BIOS if the PC shipped with W8 64 bit OS.

So, either the 550 Ti is bad or this card will not work with a UEFI BIOS.

You may need an Nvidia 700 series graphics card for your MB.

You would then, have to disable Secure Boot and enable Legacy support prior to installing an Nvidia  700 series graphics card if your PC has a UEFI BIOS.

It is also good to uninstall current graphics drivers prior to installing a new graphics card.

Regards

I appreciate the help.  thank you.

I have no idea what UEFI BIOS means, or how to find out the specs on my computer.  I guess I need to take it in to a pro.

I have no computer knowledge that doesn't come from YouTube.  Sad I know..

It is likely the motherboard does not support UEFI bios as mentioned by @Bill_To

I did read the following that indicates there is a slight possibility

Possibly a bios upgrade may work but upgrading bios can be dangerous

Please verify your bios SSID is 2AE0.  If so then read the following

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp69501-70000/sp69877.html

and download and try the 8.20 bios unless you already have it

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp69501-70000/sp69877.exe

[EDIT]  I just realized the 550 ti was made in 2011 and may not even have uefi bios

Did you connect the 6 pin power adapter?  How big is your power supply?  lt needs to be 300 watts minimum.
