HP ENVY Desktop PC TE01-4000i (6V9A5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

so i use a GoXLR audio interface and the sound cuts in and out

People online reccomend switching back to PCIe gen 3 and it fixes their issue, but when i go to my bios there is no way to do this. All the tutorials for this are on MSI bios machines

Then on top of this, i go to the info on my PC and it says it supports 4.0 or 5.0

Im kind of new to all this obviously but i can answer any questions

Hi @rpshan

Welcome to the HP Forum.

I am not familiar with GO XLR.

GO XLR seems to use USB per this Link.

Have you restarted the PC after installing this device?

So I don't think the PCIe interface would be causing the problem. PCIe bandwidth is hardcoded in the CPU and the chipset, you can't change this.

All USB connections and some PCIe connectors on your MB would be using the Chipset to move data.

Have you tried all USB ports on your PC?

You may have a faulty GO XLR or a MB USB controller problem.

this is a common issue. i have tried using all usb ports. this is a fresh install of windows 11.

the GOxlr works fine on my windows 10 machine thats about 5 years old. problem only started on new PC / windows 11. same with everyone else who has the issue.

again, this is a common issue, many people have found a fix by doing one of the following

Changing from PCIE 4 to PCIE3 in the bios

or

disabling C-states in the bios

i know you arent probably familiar with GOxlr but if you could trust ive done the other steps and please just help me answer the question at hand i would appreciate it

how can i do these two things with my machine? there is no option to do these things in the bios

if Gen3 is not an option for me, how can i change to gen 5 / would that cause any irreversible issues?

i just want to change these two things, see if it helps, and either leave it or change it back

Hi @rpshan

My pleasure.

I hear you. I have retail MBs, (Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte).

I can change PCIe settings from auto to Gen 3.0, Gen 4.0, or Gen 5.0 on those MBs.

I don't believe HP's MBs provide those settings.

There may be no solution for you unless you use a different MB. You would need a different PC since your HP MB is proprietary.

Regards
