Hi:
The 4th, 5th and 6th characters in the serial number will always be numbers.
You can tell the year and week of manufacture by looking at those 3 numbers.
The 4th is the last number of the calendar year.
The 5th and 6th numbers are the calendar week of manufacture.
For example:
Let's say the 4th, 5th and 6th numbers are 623.
6=2006, or 2016, and the 23 = the 23rd week of the calendar year.
You would have to have a ballpark idea of when you bought the notebook or what hardware it has.
The hardware in a notebook made in 2006 will be old technology compared to one made in 2016.
