OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 880-010z CTO

Hello. I'm new to this forum so please bare with me. I would appreciate any advice on this. Im unaware of the CPU and other parts in this PC all I know is it has a 1080ti. I was told that you cannot upgrade pre-built computers but i'm not sure how true that is. I'm looking to upgrade the CPU, motherboard, and ram. I'm unsure what the power supply can handle and if i can start switching parts out. I also don't know if I need to stick to specific brands or specific types of parts. I have a 5600x that I want to put in but I have no idea what is compatible and what is. So if you can please let me know what the appropriate parts to swap out would be that would be helpful thanks.

Here is the spec page for that model

There is shows the options that are available for upgrades.  If you are contemplating changing out the motherboard, then that changes all of that. Unless you are really attached to the case ( it is a nice looking case ) it might be a challenge to find a motherboard to fit the case.  The spec page indicates  it is a

  • Higos
  • SSID: 8309
  • uATX
  • Dimensions: 24.0x24.0 cm (9.4x9.4 in)

If you choose a retail motherboard then it would need to be auATX size.  The power supply is 500w, so really depends on what you wish to have when completed, to give any good recommendations, other than to start over with a custom build.

I porbaly wont upgrade the mobo than.. I'm mainly just looking to upgrade CPU as what I use that PC for mainly puts a lot of load on the CPU. So using that link that you sent me are the possible upgrades under Hardware Options ? if so when ordered the PC years ago I think I already optioned it out for the 1800x if so does that mean its maxed out ?

If you do have the AMD RYZEN7-1800X, then that appears to be the top CPU.

I have not seen any posts for something better.
