Hi @Tomi7,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To use a driver recovery DVD for an HP laptop, follow these steps.

  • Insert the DVD: Insert the driver recovery DVD into your laptop's DVD drive.
  • Restart or Turn On the Laptop: Restart your laptop or turn it on if it's powered off.
  • Access Boot Menu or BIOS: During the startup process, you might need to press a specific key (usually F2, F12, or Delete) to access the boot menu or BIOS settings. This key varies depending on your laptop model. Look for an on-screen message or consult your laptop's manual.
  • Choose DVD Drive as Boot Source: In the boot menu or BIOS settings, select the DVD drive as the boot source. This will prioritize booting from the DVD drive.
  • Save Changes and Exit: After selecting the DVD drive as the boot source, save your changes and exit the BIOS settings. This will restart your laptop.
  • Follow On-Screen Instructions: As your laptop boots from the recovery DVD, it should start loading the recovery environment. Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.
  • Select Recovery Options: Depending on the contents of the recovery DVD, you might have different options. Look for an option related to driver recovery or system recovery.
  • Install Drivers: If the recovery DVD contains drivers, it will likely provide an option to install them. Follow the prompts to install the necessary drivers for your laptop's hardware components.
  • Complete the Process: Once the driver installation is complete, the recovery process might prompt you to restart your laptop. After restarting, your laptop should have the necessary drivers installed.
  • Eject the DVD: After the recovery process is complete and your laptop is functioning with the new drivers, make sure to eject the DVD from the drive.

Please note that the exact steps might vary slightly based on your laptop model and the design of the recovery DVD.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
