Release date

28-Dec-2013
Even with the serial number, it remains approximate, you certainly have the date more or less of manufacture..
but that does not give you the date of the sale, how long ago the computer was started!!
it could very well have been sold several months later!

Thank you that is a close enough estimated date for me

You're very welcome.

The release date on the support page is the date the model series was released to market by HP.

The actual manufacture date of your specific PC is based on the serial number, and I gave you the date right down to the week your PC was manufactured.

That is as close as you can get...down to the week.

Naturally, with the year, since it runs from 0 - 9 and repeats every decade, you have to have an idea of when you bought the PC.

If a person were to have no idea at all, then they would have to look up the components the PC came with and see when they were introduced to market.

For example, your PC's processor is an AMD A8-5500.

You can look up the approximate time that processor was introduced to market and then you can determine what year the serial number it must be.

AMD A8-5500 Review. Specs. (specsboss.com)

Since the processor was introduced to market around the 3rd quarter of 2012, you can assume the '4' in the serial number has to be 2014, and not 1994, or 2004.
