HP ProDesk 600 G1 Small Form Factor PC

Hello HP Community,

I’m working on an HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF desktop and recently used the HP DMI tool to update system information like the product name, serial number, SKU, and other identifiers.

Unfortunately, during the process, I accidentally changed the Manufacturing Programming Mode to *Lock and saved the configuration. Now I need to make additional changes, but I can’t seem to unlock the Manufacturing Mode again.

So far, I’ve tried removing the asterisk from *Lock and placing it in the Unlock line within the configuration file. I also used the setconfig command via the HP BIOS Configuration Utility (BCU) while in Windows, then rebooted the system to see if it worked—but the mode still remains locked.

The system I’m working with is an HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

I understand that the NbDmiFit tool is proprietary and not publicly available, but I’m hoping someone from HP or an experienced community member can point me in the right direction.

I’d like to know if there’s any way to unlock the Manufacturing Programming Mode again, whether it’s possible to request the correct version of NbDmiFit for this model, or if there are any other options I can try.

Any help would be truly appreciated. Thanks in advance! 🙏

Accidentally, my desktop PC HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF BIOS was corrupted, and once I reinstalled the latest updated BIOS, my desktop PC’s firmware information was lost, such as the product ID, serial number, SKU number, etc.

After extensive internet research, I found a tool built by HP called the HP BIOS Configuration Utility (BCU).

Using this tool, I am able to view the BIOS configuration, including the product name, serial number, SKU number, build ID, and all other important information. For testing purposes, I only modified the product name and set the manufacturer programming mode from unlock to lock, then saved and applied the configuration in the command prompt.

After rebooting my PC, I checked, and yes, the product name was updated. Now, when I try to configure other information, it’s not updating due to the manufacturer programming mode being locked.

I tried the same method to unlock it as I did to lock it, but unfortunately, it’s not working.

Please help me or let me know how to fix this and unlock the manufacturer programming mode again to update the system information.
