How to find the part number on a screen

Hi @Leaveit2

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Let’s walk through this together step by step so you can find it with clarity and confidence.

Steps to Find the Screen Part Number

Power Off and Disconnect
Begin by shutting down the computer completely and unplugging the power cable. This ensures safety while handling the device.

Check the Bezel and Rear Labels

  • On many HP laptops and monitors, the part number is printed on a white or silver sticker.
  • Look along the edges of the screen bezel or on the back of the panel.
  • The label usually contains a combination of letters and numbers, often starting with “L” or “LP” for LCD panels.

Access Through Windows

  • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type msinfo32 and press Enter.
  • In the System Information window, expand Components > Display.
  • Here, you may see the panel model details, which can help cross-reference the part number.

Use HP App (formerly HP Smart)

  • Open the HP App on your Windows device.
  • Navigate to My Devices and select your computer.
  • Under Specifications, check the display details. While it may not always show the full part number, it provides the panel model that aligns with the physical label.

If Screen is Removed

  • If you’re comfortable, gently remove the screen from the laptop casing.
  • On the back of the LCD panel, you’ll find a clear sticker with the part number printed.
  • Handle the screen carefully to avoid pressure marks or damage.

The part number is always physically present on the panel itself, and software methods can help confirm the model. By combining both approaches, you’ll have certainty about the exact part you’re working with.
