HP EliteDesk 800 35W G3 Base Model Desktop Mini PC

Hi have an HP 800 G3 DM with a 65W power adapter but I wanted to upgrade to a 65W cpu and need to upgrade to a 90+ watts adapter.

My question is that I find a lot of HP adapters with 90W and even higher but I'm not sure if they work with this as the drawing in the back doesn't show the sensor pin indication.

This is what I have

This is what I found online

Hi:

This parts list for a random 800 G3 65W DM product number I picked from a list has the 90W power supply part # you need:

HP PartSurfer

917251-001
GNRC power supply unit 90W DM PWR ADPTR

I'd do a search by the above part number to make sure you get the right one.

Thanks, but where I'm is not easy to get specific parts, I can buy some second hand HP adapters with the voltage and plug that is equal to the one I have but if only the ones that are listed in the partsurfer are supported I'm screwed!

You're very welcome.

There would be no way I can tell you with a 100% guarantee that what you want to buy will work.

HP doesn't sell that part because I checked the HP online parts store for Portugal.

The power supply you found should work if it has the same specs, but you never know.

The only way to find out is to try it and see.

The PC will give a 3.4 beep/blink code if the power supply is not supported.

There's plenty of the 800 G3 DM part numbers for sale on the eBay.US website but you would have to pay a fortune to have it mailed to Portugal.

I want to add two other things you may want to look into:

I also have a 800 G3 DM i5-6500T running W11 pro 24H2 and the parts list shows a different heatsink is used for the 35W processors and the 65W processors.

65W:

914254-001
ASSY, Heatsink, ENT17-DM, Scorpius, 65W

35W:

914265-001
ASSY, Heatsink, ENT17-DM, 35W

Also, the top cover on the 65W 800 G3 DM's has vents, and the top cover our PC's have do not, so even if you can use the same heat sink, I believe you may have some cooling issues.

I contemplated buying 65W 800 G3 DM for parts for $25 USD I saw on eBay and putting the top cover from that one on mine to improve cooling but decided I would be better off just buying an off-lease 800 G4/G5 65W DM in the future that is ready to go out of the box.

IMHO, I think you may have to do some more research into replacing the 35W processor with the 65W processor than just upgrading the power supply.

I'm aware of the differences and can deal with them, thanks for the heads up nonetheless.
