HP X3000 G2 Wireless Mouse

I found conflicting answers on the web for how to lubricate (oil) a mouse. This is how I resolved the squeaky wheel on mine. It is an HP X3000 G2 wireless mouse. I popped off the top of the mouse. I sprayed silicone on each side of the wheel, and then immediately tipped the mouse upside down, so the excess silicone would drip out. I wiped the excess silicone with a Q-tip. You want to use silicone, because while the axle of the mouse wheel may be metal, the other parts of the mouse are plastic. WD-40 and 3-in-1 oil may damage plastic. I snapped the cover back on. No more squeaking. (I tested the silicone spray on a paper towel first, to get an idea how much would come at one time. Only a small amount came out, so it seemed safe to spray it directly onto the mouse). Good luck.
