Hp 8300
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bought  refurbished hp 8300 desktop sff from the local market in pakistan.

Does this hp desktop support Sata III OR IT IS JUST SATA II.

sure it is running my nnew Sata  III hardrive of 1  TB, but I can't confirm at what gb/s speed it is running on.

are any sata ports  are   Sata III ?

as I have two hard drive

one is Sata 3 6gb/s of seagate 1 tv ( this is main one)

other is Sata 3gb/s of seagate 500gb. ( back up)

ISSUE ;

when I connect both of my hard drives , I have some error in starting up and I can access both drive in the windows but the pc is slow.

when I removed the old hard drive Sata II  of 500gb ,  no error in start up and it is running fine ....

I know the specs for the 8200 Elite state that ports 0 and 1 are SATA III.

However, there is a neat utility you can use that tells you all kinds of stuff about your PC.

I have zipped it up and attached it below.

Download, unzip and run the file.

Then close out of the summary window that shows up.

On the left side of the program window, click to expand the Drives category.

Click to expand the SATA/ATAPI drives category.

Click on the model hard drive listed.

Now on the right side of the program window, at the very top, the first report will be the drive speed and controller speed.

Mine reports Serial ATA 6Gb/s @ 6Gb/s

Yours should too.

Hi:

I know that the sata drive 0 and 1 ports are SATA III.

I have the 8200 Elite CMT and my sata 0 and 1 ports are SATA III.

I have an Intel 730 SSD in port 0 and it is running at the full 6.0 GB/S speed.

I only have one drive in the PC, so I can't help you with why having two drives connected slows down the PC.

maybe i can test it too.

strange, maybe I wil Karyn to insert another hard drive and then check it

Thanks you

one more things.

can u give me tell me which is better in desktop for 3rd Gen pavilion or elite

unfortunetly , Hp website is very poorly make when comparing, or even checking spec of older models.

They really need to now work on website too.

You're very welcome.

The pavilion models are for home use.

The Elite models are for corporate use.

I prefer the Elite models.  IMO, they are built better, have better motherboards, and last longer.

Normally HP provides a 3 year warranty on the business models and only a 1 year warranty on the consumer models.

That should tell you something right there.

The business desktops after the 8300 Elite, are now called EliteDesks and they have model numbers starting from 800 G1 (4th gen), 800 G2 (6th gen), 800 G3 (7th gen).

There were no 5th gen models for some reason.

The only advantage the pavilion has over the Elite, is that a similarly equipped Pavilion is usually a bit less expensive than a similarly equipped Elite/Elitedesk.
