Hi, my brother bought my child a Intel core 12th generation processor so they could game on their desktop. I took it apart to install it and noticed that it is too big for the mother board. I know nothing about computer and Googled even how to install the processor. I tried checking which processors their computer is compatible with but couldn't find it. Do I need to replace my child's motherboard in order to utilize the new processor? Would I need to replace other things as well? Such as a graphics card or anything else? We currently have 12g Ram. This is a whole new world for me. Wondering if this upgrade is even possible. Thank you.

hi

You need the exact model of your computer!
it is very likely that the processor is not at all compatible
That's something he should have checked before.
In this case, replacing the motherboard will be very complicated, if not impossible..
Either it will be necessary to return this processor, or to keep it in order to install it in a completely new configuration
