Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have got an Hp pavilion 510-p146nd. It is starting to become slow. So I would like to upgrade to an AMD ryzen cpu, I can't really find a post that gives an answer if this is possible or not because HP says that only Amd A8, A10 and A12 are supported. I can't install the latest BIOS update, which has a CPU microcode update... So I installed the 822A update. Does anyone know if it is possible to put in an AMD ryzen 1700?? Thank you very much.

@Janneke2 , welcome to the forum.

 

HP has their motherboards made to their specifications.  For this reason, they are not necessarily the same as a retail board.  The processors listed in the section titled "Processor upgrade information" are the only ones tested to assure that they are fully compatible with the motherboard.  Any others will most likely not work; including the AMD Ryzen 1700.
