Hi,

I currently have a hp z240 it has an i7 6700k and it is cooled by the stock hp cooler, is it possible for me to overclock the CPU?

If so how many GHZ is the maximum I can overclock the CPU to without needing to install a better CPU cooler?

@SubSubpat,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

You cannot overclock your i7-6700K -or any "K" processor for that matter on the HP Z240 platforms.

Trust me, I have tried hard -very hard indeed, to find any software or trick that would be capable to bypass HP's OC restrictions.

You want higher CPU performance?  The best processor with the highest performance you can fit on your desktop would be the i7-7700K, and because of its 91 watt TDP, requires better airflow -especially in an SFF (Small Form Factor) which is explained in my response to your previous post.

Kind Regards,
