HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Small Form Factor PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So, I am swapping the case for my hp elite desk 800 G1 and when I went to power it on nothing happened, beforehand I changed the psu to a 500w unit from evga, bought the right adapter, and the only sign of power is a blinking green light on the motherboard. When I tried using the normal power supply, everything worked fine and the light was then solid green, please help.

What model evga did you obtain?  If it has a 24 pin connector did you obtain the 24 pin adapter?

I got the EVGA 500 W1, which does have a 24 pin, which I also got the adapter for

I am not familiar with the adapter you obtained.  Do you have a link to it and a link, if any, to the article you read that recommended the adapter?

ATX power supplies not connected directly to a motherboard 24 pin socket must have a jumper or switch to enable the power supply to turn on such as the jumper shown in the following

https://www.amazon.com/24-Pin-PSU-Jumper-Starter-Compatible/dp/B0756WFMNF

do any of the fans work when you turn on the system?  such as the power supply fan?  the CPU fan?

can you measure 5v and 12v at the molex connectors?

Sorry I haven’t responded, I haven’t been checking this, but here is the power supply adapter I got, https://www.amazon.com/COMeap-Power-Adapter-Workstation-12-inch/dp/B06XW7RWNH/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=3P... , how would I go about using that jumper when I have this adapter plugged in?

I found the adapter in this YouTube video here, https://youtu.be/C70nmtTFPuw

The adapter should work fine according to documentation.  The green cable, 4th from left side, is the power-on cable and it must go to the switch.

Possibly you need to hold down the system power on button for a full 30 seconds.

Do that twice.

If it fails to turn on then look at all the connectors to see if they are mis-connected.

Plugged  in backwards?  Pin left out on the left or right side?

Not in all the way?

Lid closed? Some systems have a switch that check to see if the lid is closed.

some power supplies have a switch for the internal fan.   Check that the power on switch and fan switch are both set for "on"

When connecting to wall outlet or first pressing the power on button, do the fans spin for a second or two:?

Any beeping?

I got it fixed last week, all I had to do was plug in the power supply, turn it on and unplug the adapter and plug it back in, then it worked fine after that.
