Welcome to our HP community forum!
An HP ZZ440 Workstation is not compatible with LGA 1151 processors, such as an i7-6700, because this PC is fitted with an LGA 2011 CPU socket.
Since your desktop either got the 525 or the 700-watt power supply, you would be able to install/power an AMD RX 5600 XT.
My most recent upgrade project happened to be an HP Z440 Workstation, you may find some answer(s) there: Solved: Upgrading an HP Z440 Workstation - HP Support Community - 9015888.
Kind Regards,
