For a wile now . some time when my parents would power up there computer. they would have to push the power button a few times to get the computer to turn on . the led would come on add you could here the hard drive start to spool up. but as soon as you let go  of the button it would shut down.  in the last few days this apparently got much worse and now it will not start up at all . The power light comes on the hard drive spools up as long as you hold the button however you can here the hard drive keep trying to stop and then spool up again. no mater how long you hold the button the monitor never comes up.

Here are the specs on that circa 2015 unit.   Areas of concern.

1) Are the RAM modules fully seated.

2) Those units utilize a laptop power supply.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..

Thanks so much for the info . I will check the ram in the morning and let you know. The power supply is a frustrating point for me I don't have another HP lap top here and don't have a way to test this one under load. So I am not sure how to determine if the power supply is bad or not with out ordering a new one?
