The first line, is NOT a good solution. It basically tells a user how to open up their system.

The other two, going offsite, aren't really great either, but are pretty funny. So we go for HP support, and a highly placed person tells us that HP has a huge security problem.

I do appreciate the honesty.

Interestingly, I removed the affected software a long time back (I just need a good video card in my laptop, I don't need all the other silly bells and whistles) and the problem still crops up. I thought maybe it was due to an old HP ScanJet at my Dad's place I loaded a few years back.

I'll try the update, now if I can just keep my laptop blessedly a little quiet light wise.

To turn off the memory integrity setting ..

I do not understand what you mean, it is explained how to do this, which can sometimes fix the problem, so tried or not?

we need the exact model of your computer, and the product number
To find it follow this
for a desktop computer

HP Desktop PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? | HP® Customer Support
and for a laptop
HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Product Name or Number? | HP® Customer Support

Give the full name with the product number P / N

this is not a model:
HP Desktop M01-F1xxx
the requested product number must look like this

Give the full version of windows
