Hello all,
I have recently purchased a HPK 24-A207NA all in one PC. Overall, I am very pleased with the performance - however I have noticed that there is a pretty annoying humming sound (which I assume is the fan). I was wondering if this is normal? The person I bought it from (Currys in the UK) said he listened to a HP all-in-one they had in-store and that one had a hum. So maybe it's something I'll either have to get accustomed to or perhaps exchange.
Would appreciate any feedback / comments.
Thanks,
Ruban

Hi @rubanselva,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having issues with the PC making a loud humming sound. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you tried to run a test on the computer?
Have you tried to update the Bios on your PC?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the PC:
Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset". Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:
-
If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.
If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.
-
With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.
-
With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.
-
Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.
Next thing, I would suggest here is to Run a System diagnostics test as well as an extensive test on the Hard drive from F2 (Please capture the failure ID for further assistance).
I would suggest please update the BIOS on your PC and check if it helps.
If the issue still persists it is a hardware issue, please contact HP support for service options.

Hi Jeet,
Many thanks for your detailed response. I actually tried updating the BIOS on the back of advice given by one of HP's customer service representatives but the issue has remained.
By all accounts. it is the fan making the noise so I think it is best for me to return the PC to see if it can be repaired - if not, I will probably exchange for another brand of PC. It would be a shame if so, as I have been quite impressed with this PC's performance. I am spending quite a lot of time on the PC and don't think I will be able to get used to the humming as it is.
Kind regards,
Ruban

Hi @rubanselva,
Thank you for replying,
I appreciate your time and efforts,
As I understand you have followed the steps suggested and this did not help to fix the issue. However, you were able to diagnose the issue to be with the noise coming from the fan. Here's a document which you can go through - HP Notebook PCs - Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly, PC is Warmer than Normal.
If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue. I would personally suggest you contact our HP phone support so that they can setup a service for your PC.

Same here! I did the Bios and nothing helped, I will need to get another computer, which this is new, and issues started from day one. As an online college student it is very loud and distracting and difficult to do my work. This is my second All in One and my last one didn't do this....
