Hi all,
I am not exactly building a PC, but I did buy an HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF that I want to upgrade. I was following this YouTube video to upgrade the RAM and change the storage from HDD to SSD. I was able to change the RAM easily, but I ran into an issue when trying to change to an SSD. After I took out the HDD that came with the computer and replaced it with this SanDisk SSD, I tried starting the computer, but when the computer turned on all I got was a black screen that says “Non-system disk or disk error. Replace and strike any key when ready.” After this happened, I took out the SSD and put back the original HDD and the computer started normally and worked fine. The only things on this computer I have changed so far are the RAM and storage. Since the computer worked normally after I put back the original HDD, I am guessing the issue must be caused by the storage and not the RAM. I am not sure how to resolve this issue. I tried using another SSD, this one by Crucial, but I had the same issue with it. I tried updating the BIOS, but that did not resolve the issue. Does anyone know what might be wrong here and how to fix it?
Thank you and have a nice day.

Hi:
It sounds to me like you did not reinstall the operating system on your new SSD.
No hard drives you buy come with operating systems installed.
Plug your working drive back in and use the Microsoft media creation tool to create a bootable W10 USB installation flash drive.
Make the 64-bit installation media.
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
Boot from the USB installation media you created.
You will be asked to install the version of W10 currently installed (W10 Home or W10 Pro).
Then you will be asked to enter a product key.
Select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install.
After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.
