Hi @SpeedOfLight,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the 3F0 error you're seeing indicates that the laptop is not detecting the hard drive or SSD, meaning that either the drive has failed or the connection between the drive and the laptop's motherboard is disrupted.
Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot this issue:
1. Power Reset the Laptop
- Turn off the laptop completely.
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
- Unplug the power adapter.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Reconnect the power adapter and try booting up again to see if the issue persists.
2. Check the BIOS
- Power on the laptop and immediately start pressing the F10 key repeatedly to enter the BIOS setup.
- Once in the BIOS, check if the hard drive or SSD is listed under the Storage or Boot Order section. If the drive is not detected here, it likely means the drive is either disconnected or has failed.
3. Reseat the Hard Drive/SSD
If you're comfortable with opening your laptop, you can try reseating the hard drive or SSD:
- Turn off the laptop and disconnect the power adapter.
- Remove the back panel of the laptop (you might need a small screwdriver).
- Locate the hard drive or SSD, carefully disconnect it, and then reconnect it securely.
- Put the back panel back on, reconnect the power, and try booting up again.
4. Run Diagnostics from HP HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
- If the hard drive or SSD is detected in the BIOS, exit the BIOS and restart the laptop.
- On boot, press F2 to enter the HP Diagnostic Tools and run a Storage Test to check for errors.
- Follow the results of the test to determine if the drive has failed.
5. Replace the Hard Drive/SSD
If none of the above steps work, the drive may have failed and will likely need to be replaced.
