HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-0026no
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi,

I would really appreciate some help, I am running low on storage with my SSD-256gB (SK hynix BC501 HFM256GDJTNG-8310A), I do not really want to reinstall the whole PC (new SSD) and I use the PC for mainly gaming.

What are my options, could I add a Hard drive? If so which Hard drive should I buy that is compatible?

Thanks in advance.

Sebastian

@Sebmsmith,

There are options:

1) The 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD could be cloned to a new NVMe™ M.2 SSD, you pick the size.  That would require an  MVMe M.2 SSD adapter to USB 3.1 Type C  (10GB/sec) ; so once the clone (what is cloning) is finished, you swap out the SSD's. Then you will have a pocket SSD.  The Type C is on the front of the unit.

2) Add an 2.5" SSD (adapter tray to 3.5") as a data drive. Then re-assign the folders. Gives you storage.

3) Combination of both> perform #1 and then add additional long term storage of documents, pictures, etc.

The actual choice of MVMe SSD and added SSD hard drive are varied. I like Samsung EVO SSD's of any flavor.

BTW<> that SK Hynix is terribly slow.

Many thanks for that. I will get busy and try and find a new larger sdd and that adapter.

Take care, Seb
