I am trying to install a 2230 M.2 NVME drive into a G4 Elite... - HP Support Community

The product manual states that the M.2 slots for both NVME drives are for 2280 drives as well as 2230 length drives. I recently purchased a bulk lot of 2230 Drives with the intention of using them for the main Windows drive for 20 of our HP G4 Minis.

I see the mounting 'hole' where a M.2 Standoff is meant to be socketed. However, it seems like the pre-existing standoffs in the 2280 position are both embedded, and cannot be removed.

What is the proper way/part number to actually install a 2230 sized drive?

The manual clearly states that it should be possible.

The problem is that you can install the 2230 into the slot, but there is no existing standoff and screw hole to allow a hold down screw.

That mention of the 2230 format in the Maintenance & Service guide could have been a mistake that fell through the cracks and made it to publishing.

There is indeed a standoff and screw hole for M.2 PCIe NVME 2280 SSD products.

I was able to get several different PC screws into the socket (none of them are common screws), and it would potentially work to secure the 2230 drive, but not ideal. I am not sure if they are M3 or M4.

Ideally, the proper solution would be a M.2 standoff that mounts into the M3 or M4 hole (not sure what it is)

I think I identified the proper standoff on Amazon, but unfotunately it is part of a 7 dollar set of 21 different types of M.2 hardware. I would hope to pay 7 dollars for 21 of this same standoff solution, but cannot find it's exact name, or details listed anywhere. Here is a picture of the piece I believe would work as the official part solution.

The other solution is a 3D printed 2230 to 2280 adapter. They are available to print for free, or just under 3 dollars on eBay.
