HP OMEN 30L

Hi I just bought an HP OPEN 30L with AMD 5800X and 2x 8 GB 1600 Mhz HyperX DDR4 8x2 (16GB) total RAM.

 

I'd like to go to 32 GB, and I saw the max memory speed for the HP 8876 motherboard is 3200MHz.

 

I'd like to know:

Where can I upgrade the RAM that works with the built in software to control the RGB .  There is an Kingston Fury RGB for sale on Newegg and amazon, but I doubt that would work.  I don't see HP HyperX Furys for sale anywhere on here, maybe I am dim. (no pun intended)

 

I'd like 2 x 16 GB 3200 to max out two of my slots.  

 

Also, its been a years since I have  played with memory upgrade mix and matches, but it would be nice to leave the 16GB 1600Mhz RAM in the rig to get 48GB, but guessing the clocks would slow down to 1.6Mhz, can someone confirm?  

 

I am pretty happy with the machine so far, and HP support is a new crutch I am really liking since I am usually a DIY builder.

@racer_x_2502 -- the difference between "1600" and "3200" is encoded by the "DDR" contraction.

 

The motherboard's clock "ticks" at the 1600 speed, but any DDR ("Double Data Rate") RAM can deliver two bits of data per "tick" -- one on the "upward" pulse, and one on the "downward" pulse of each "tick".

 

So, 1600 "ticks" delivers 3200 bits.

I was trying to find out the same thing about upgrading my RAM also. It appears you have the choice of way overpriced HP ram and a limit of 64GB or other issues. It almost seems like it would be much easier just to trash the HP motherboard completely and buy a different motherboard that doesn't have all the issues that HP is causing. They don't clearly state in their support documentation what would work, it appears they have handicapped the motherboard and the ability to upgrade the RAM memory. They should make it much more clear or start losing customers because of poor customer service.
