hello, i have a HP Pavilion x360 Convertible Laptop PC 14m-dw1023dx. a few months ago my option to use wifi was taken away. i went to a computer shop nearby and they gave a temporary fix and said that if it happens again i’ll need to order a new wifi adapter. A few days ago it happened and I need help ordering a new wifi adapter. I have the picture of it so I know what I specifically need but i’m stressed and can’t figure out how to order it. any help would be greatly appreciated!

That is really suspicious. Check your warranty and have it fixed.

If out of warranty then what was the defect? Was it the antenna connector or the Wi-Fi board?
A picture of how to remove or attach the antenna
I went here and guessed at your product ID as I did not have your serial number
https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer/?searchtext=1F4W5UA
the HP part number for the WiFi and the antenna are listed.
The HP parts store has the Wi-Fi board but you can get it cheaper used at eBay or Aliexpress

thank you for the reply, and thank you for linking the items. My warranty is expired and the defect was the wifi board. i recently went back to the shop and they said i have to get the exact model but different brand. i’m not sure how to shop for it though. help would be greatly appreciated because i find the same model but don’t know if every single detail has to be exact, also the one I have is intel and i’m not sure how to tell what brand a different one is from. Genuinely all help is appreciated. Thank you!!
model for the wifi board: AX201NGW

If go here and put in your serial number you should get a list of parts in your system and the Wi-Fi is L92724-005
That Wi-Fi board is dual band and Bluetooth 5.1 and is an excellent card
It sells for $11 to $21 USD
If the socket the antennas connect to are damaged it is passible the antenna connector is also damaged.
I would get one from a vendor who accepts returns in case the problem is not the board.
While you got it open you might consider a memory upgrade

Hello and thank you, your responses are really helpful. The first image should be the part I need to replace, the repair shop I went to didn’t mention broken sockets. They just said I needed a wifi board. I took your advice and is the second picture I entered what you were talking about? Im very confused, you said it would be $11-$21USD. Also on the screenshot it has the same model I need but it has “-W” at the end. Also is the wifi board on it intel? The repair shop says I just need the same wifi board but different brand and they didn’t specify much after that. Thank you and I really appreciate your responses!!

Yes, this is an Intel board,. There appears to be corrosion on the screw and the components seem to have a lot of dust but it might be the photograph quality.

As far as I can tell that Wi-Fi board came with your laptop. If the board is defective it needs to be replaced. What the shop advised does not make sense unless they want you to get a better performing Wi-Fi board. If you want a better board our expert @Paul_Tikkanen might be able to advise you.
What was the problem that caused you to take it to the shop? If it was loss of internet due to a weak Wi-Fi signal you may need to make the model/router find a channel that is less congested. Most routers have this feature. If your router is the new Wi-Fi 6 then possibly you can upgrade your Intel board to one that handles Wi-Fi 6 and the newer encryptions.

Hello!! From what I can tell the screw isn’t corroded, but it is dusty.
The shop I went to said I had to get the same one but different brand because it would just cause the same problems to my laptop.
I honestly have no idea about what wifi my router is and I don’t know how to do that. However the problem to begin with was the option to turn off wifi was gone. I checked my device manager and from what I remember it said my wifi adapter was failing and it shut down. So i’m not sure what I’m supposed to do but thank you for referring me someone I can message. Thank you!

If your Wi-Fi stops working the problem might be that windows cannot wake it up. Go into the device manager, find your Wi-Fi adapter and set it so the power management does not turn it off
Do not allow the computer to turn off the device.
