I  have   compaq 8100 elite Small From Factor   with  mainboard    304AH  with  I5  660 processor

is  there  any chance  that  I  can replace it with  newer  motherboard which support  new generation   processor   and DDR4  ram

Hi

It is certainly an hp box, particular ..
unless you can find a more recent compatible HP motherboard  of an identical model ..
take the opportunity to change the case, you can install the motherboard you want

@DanP6,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

NOT duplicating @Prométhée's response, my suggestion to you would be to scratch your almost 11-year old PC for something more recent -fitted, as you indicated, with modern DDR4 RAM and a much faster/capable 7th gen Intel processor.

Not knowing where you are posting from -if outside the US of A, you'll need to do your own online search, but here in the US you can purchase perfectly decent and competitively priced HP desktops with still a lot of years left in them.

For example, for less than $300 you could purchase a fully functional HP Z240 SFF, such as this example: HP Z240 SFF / i7-7700 @ 3.6 GHz / 16GB RAM / SSD + HDD / Win 10 Pro | eBay.

My penny's worth.

Kind Regards,

Sorry, @NonSequitur777
That's not the point, I could also sell any computer to this user
But why, I would never indicate a computer already used!
because I have seen too often here, users who have bought a computer of this type, and have problems, sometimes, bios locked by password, and impossible to recover it
or worse computer that breaks down and impossible to get it back, refund, no guarantee!
I know very well that sometimes you can make a deal, but sometimes!

@Prométhée,

The point is that you can purchase awesome deals via eBay on working/refurbished PCs, and at least here in the USA the customer satisfaction scores for such purchases are overwhelmingly positive.

Pal, I don't really give a royal rodent's hiney that you would, quote: "never indicate a computer already used" -other (Expert) Users have also suggested to look for inexpensive budget-friendly legacy PCs via eBay many times before in this Forum.
