I want to upgrade the RAM but I don't know if I can. Can I put 2 8gb RAMs into this thing or am I limited to 2 4gb Rams it it, thanks and I'm not sure why this is so complicated to figure out...

Hi:

 

I took a look at the memory upgrade specs on your PC's support page and they make no sense to me either.

So, I looked into the matter a little further for you...

 

The motherboard has two memory slots.

 

HP says the max is 8 GB per slot, but then they say the max memory is 8 GB due to 'the capability of the hardware.'

 

That can't be right.

 

The processor your PC has can support up to 64 GB of memory.

 

That would be with 4 memory slots, each holding a 16 GB memory module.

The crucial memory report for your PC indicates the max is 2 x 16 GB, which makes total sense to me based on the hardware specs.
