Hi:

 

That model originally came with Windows XP from HP, so there would be no W2K drivers for it.

 

This reputable 3rd party website has Windows XP drivers for it. Some of them may work on W2K.

 

HP Pavilion a420n drivers (driverscollection.com)

 

If you want, you can order the original recovery media from this vendor at the link below.

 

Computer Surgeons - Recovery Kit 5069-6645 For HP Model Number a420n

 

HP retired support for that model series years ago after it reached 10 years of age.

Hi Paul,

 

Thanks for your reply, it was very helpful.

 

By way of explanation, I got the hardware a long time ago with, and because of, a fried hard drive.  I'm now trying to use it to update the firmware for my telescope which requires an RS-232 serial port which this motherboard has.

 

I have a WinXP disc and licence so I'll install that and try the drivers from the ASUS support site.
