OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC GT21-0000i (392G2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

So I have this ram in my 40l system: Kingston HyperX FURY 2x8 GB 3733mHz HP37D4U1S8MR-8XR

There are two free slots for upgrade and I want to add another 16 GB. So that would make it quad channel 4x8 GB at 3733mHz. I'm not aware how big the difference between guad 32 GB and dual 32 GB is, but it would seem easier to just add sticks. I don't know where I'd sell the current ones if I were to swap to 2x16GB - and whether they could be sold without worrying about compatibility at the buyer's end.

I've read that the new verson Kingston FURY >Beast< rams are not the same as what I have, and would not be compatible with Omen xmp - or something - while using these older ones at the same time. They look the same in pictures, except the text "beast" is added in the new versions.

Everyone in the internet is saying different things and a bunch of their comments are out of date, since there have been many updates to Omen BIOS. So the comments always end up being frustrating and lead nowhere.

So I'm asking here, where I can find this ram, and whether the "beast" ram is a compatible alternative for me. Omen is supposed to be easily upgradeable, but this amount of effort spent  finding a stick of ram is anything but.

I said a lot of stuff, but I hope to find some answers

@sadedge,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

It is absolutely recommended to 'stick' the same RAM in all your slots (brand, model, capacity) for best results.

The RAM you are looking for is difficult to get.  However, if you are quick, you can purchase them here for $64.99 each -which based on scarcity and the imbalance between supply & demand is very reasonable: HP37D4U1S8MR-8XR - Hewlett-packard (HP) - RAM DIMM8G DDR4 1.35v Memory | Impact Computers.

Impact Computers has three (3) HP37D4U1S8MR-8XR RAM sticks left in stock.  My experience is that these will be gone in no time at all.

Hope this was helpful.

@sadedge,

I'm sure you double-checked the exact RAM part number you got installed in your desktop.  And if you did, please disregard this message.

Otherwise: type cmd in your Windows search bar, right-click on the Command Prompt App, then left-click on "Run as administrator" and left-click on "Yes".

Then copy/paste and enter:

wmic memorychip get devicelocator, manufacturer, partnumber, capacity, speed, memorytype, formfactor

And you will see something like this:

Does the wmic command confirm you got HP37D4U1S8MR-8XR RAM modules?

Yes, it confirms it:

Thanks for your reply, but I believe that stick should be bought in sets of 2, in order to combine them. This is something I read in a youtube comment section or maybe reddit. So buying 2 separately would not allow me to actually use them. I can't remember whether this was something unique to these rare ram sticks or the Omen system's/Mobo's fault. So I can't really jump on it when seeing 3 sold separately. Do you have any info regarding this point of view?

@sadedge,

As mentioned, you need identical RAM sticks.  As long as your DIMM2 and DIMM4 RAM sticks are also HP37D4U1S8MR-8XR, it doesn't matter.  This RAM acts no different than any other RAM.  You said you had two open slots, all you need then are two additional HP37D4U1S8MR-8XR RAM sticks.

Kind Regards,
