I received a new keyboard and mouse to replace the old ones. I put in the batteries, but it's not connecting to my computer. The dongle is built into the computer and the keyboard and mouse. I called support and they had me an hour on the phone but were useless. Is there a way to fix this?

Here are a few checks that often help:

 

  • Wireless pairing button: Some models require pressing a small connect button on the underside of the keyboard or mouse to sync with the receiver.
  • Driver refresh: In Device Manager, right-click the keyboard/mouse entry and select “Update driver.” This ensures the replacement hardware is recognized.
  • Battery swap: Even new batteries can sometimes be weak. Try a fresh set to rule this out.
  • Interference check: Place the keyboard and mouse closer to the computer and away from other wireless devices.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, bringing the devices to a HP Service Center will allow our team to run diagnostics and provide a quick fix or replacement if needed.
