Hi @Silverwing2023,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop PC is a pre-built gaming desktop, and adding a 4-terabyte (TB) hard drive is a relatively straightforward process. Here are the steps you can follow and some considerations for adding a 4TB drive to your system.
Check Compatibility: Ensure that the 4TB hard drive you plan to add is compatible with the OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop PC. Most modern desktops should support standard SATA hard drives, so compatibility should not be an issue.
Acquire the Hard Drive: Purchase a 4TB SATA hard drive. Be sure to choose a reputable brand and model that fits your budget and performance needs.
Backup Data (if needed): If you plan to transfer data from your existing drive to the new 4TB drive, make sure to back up any important data beforehand.
Open the Case: Depending on your comfort level, you may need to open the case of your desktop. Ensure that the computer is powered off and unplugged before doing so.
Identify Drive Bays: Locate an available drive bay inside your desktop where you can mount the new 4TB drive. Most desktops have multiple drive bays for hard drives and SSDs.
Mount the Drive: Physically mount the 4TB drive in the chosen bay. You may need to use screws or other mounting hardware provided with the desktop or the hard drive itself.
Connect Cables: Connect the necessary cables to the new drive. You'll need to connect the SATA data cable to the drive and the motherboard, as well as a SATA power cable from the power supply.
Boot Up: Close the case and secure it. Plug in and power on your desktop.
Initialize and Format: Your new 4TB drive may need to be initialized and formatted before it can be used. To do this in Windows:
- Right-click on "This PC" (or "My Computer" in older versions).
- Select "Manage."
- Go to "Disk Management."
- Find your new 4TB drive, which should appear as unallocated space.
- Right-click on it and select "Initialize Disk."
- After initializing, right-click on the drive again and select "New Simple Volume." Follow the wizard to format the drive with a file system (usually NTFS) and assign a drive letter.
Transfer Data (if needed): If you backed up data earlier, you can now transfer it to the new 4TB drive.
Use the Drive: Your 4TB drive should now be ready for use. You can use it for additional storage, games, media, or any other data you need to store.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
