@bmac615, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
I understand you're looking to upgrade your HP OmniDesk Desktop PC M02-0000i (A9UU2AV) by installing an SSD. This is a great way to significantly improve your PC's performance, especially boot times and application loading speeds. I can definitely guide you through the process.
Check Compatibility
Your PC supports both 2.5" SATA SSDs and possibly M.2 SSDs, depending on the motherboard configuration. Refer to the HP Product Specifications page to confirm the supported SSD types.
Backup Your Data
Before making any hardware changes, back up your important files.
Power Down and Open the Case
- Shut down your PC and unplug all cables.
- Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to discharge residual power.
- Open the side panel of the case (usually secured with screws at the back).
Install the SSD
For 2.5" SATA SSD:
- Mount the SSD in a 2.5" drive bay using screws or a bracket.
- Connect the SATA data cable to the motherboard and the SATA power cable from the power supply.
For M.2 SSD (if supported):
- Locate the M.2 slot on the motherboard.
- Insert the SSD at a 30-degree angle and secure it with a screw.
Reassemble and Boot
- Close the case and reconnect all cables.
- Power on the PC and enter BIOS (usually by pressing F10 during startup) to ensure the SSD is detected.
Initialize and Format the SSD
Once in Windows:
- Press Win + X → Disk Management.
- Locate the new SSD, right-click and choose Initialize Disk.
- Create a new volume and format it (NTFS is recommended).
I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.
Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
