Hello,

I hope you are doing well. I am using HP all-in-one PC (27-cr0407in). Right now, due to some work and multiple applications running simultaneously, memory is consistently at almost 90%. I also use MS Teams for work and share my screen during meetings. As a result, the computer tends to respond slowly, and this impacts my productivity. So, I want to upgrade the RAM. From the task manager (memory in the performance tab), I can see that there are two slots for RAM with speed 3200 MT/s and form factor as SODIMM.

I want to use max out of memory. So, I would like to know up to how much RAM I can upgrade utilizing both slots. Also, could you please suggest any recommendations in terms of compatible RAM to improve performance?

Thank you. Regards,

Riddiman Das

Hi:

According to the Crucial memory report for the model series, it can support up to 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200 CL22 memory.

Installing 32 GB of memory should help but since the PC already came with 2 x 8 GB of memory, I don't know how significant the performance increase will be, as usually 16 GB of memory is sufficient for most users.

Thank you so much for your reply. The link you provided really helps. Actually, I was looking for a dual kit 32 GB RAM (16 GB x2) for upgradation. But that is not available right now on the Crucial India website.
So, should I purchase two identical RAM sticks (same model ID/part number) of 16 GB each for both slots?
Kindly tell me if this will be as good as the dual kit in terms of overall performance and stability. If you think the dual kit is preferable and generally recommended, I will wait till it's available.

Thank you. Regards.

You're very welcome,

The problem with upgrading memory at this time is that it is ridiculously expensive in every country.

If you were to buy two of these chips, they should work.

They would be no different than buying this memory in a 2 x 16 GB kit if it were available.

At the beginning of the year, this memory was in the $40 USD range for a 16 GB chip.

The only thing I can think of that may be driving up the cost is the price of gold which is used for the gold plated memory contacts.

Hey Paul, how are you doing?

I ordered it from Amazon India, but to my surprise, they sent me some other model (CT16G4SFS832A). Another online portal has model CB16GS3200 C8FT. I tried to contact some other sellers, and they didn't guarantee the same model.

We all know Crucial is closing its consumer business early next year. And this is one of the reasons Crucial RAM is not easily available. I really wanted to buy the dual channel model CT16G4SFRA32A as you also suggested, but it's not there in the market for quite some time now.
So, if I have to purchase two 16GB  RAMS out of these two models - CT16G4SFS832A and CB16GS3200-C8FT for my all-in-one pc, which one do you recommend? I know that both have almost the same benchmark results, still I would like to go with the comparatively better one in your opinion.

Thank you again!

Hi:

I looked up the specs for the memory chips you found.

They both seem to be the same:

CT16G4SFS832A

⁣Crucial - CT16G4SFS832A.C8FE 16GB 260Pin SO-DIMM DDR4 - Memory Module

CB16GS3200-C8FT

⁣Crucial - CB16GS3200.C8FT 16GB 260pin SO-DIMM DDR4 - Memory Module

I have never come across the second part number.

The first one I am familiar with.

Regarding the memory prices...I read that it has to do for the AI demand for memory chips.

The manufacturers can't keep up with the demand.

And you're right.

It seems like Micron is getting out of the Crucial consumer memory business.
