I have an omen 45l with an i9 14900k.
this chip is in the news for stability issues and intel has admitted to a voltage issue they are working on a patch for. I have a couple of questions:
1) intel will be done by mid August and send patch to motherboard manufactures for them to create bios update from it. Will hp be proactive and get us the firmware update quickly?
2) my machine has been rock solid with good temps 30-40c on old games. About 50c for msfs 2020. I do notice voltages go up to and a little above 1.5v during max spikes when taxing apps like msfs 2020. Is this considered ok? Can I continue to use machine as is or do I need to adjust something before hp issues firmware update? Everything is stock out of box. I tweaked nothing so far.
thank you for anyone who can add some help here.

It may be a while before HP releases a bios update due to internal testing.
In the meantime I recommend you prevent the system from running in turbo mode by setting CPU performance to %99
Enter the phrase 'edit power plan' in the window search box
Then select the 'Advanced' tab
To keep the CPU from being overstressed , consider
using %99 instead of %100.
Verify CPU speed using this tool (CPU-Z)
A battery is mentioned above, but this procedure works for both laptops and desktops

Thank you for your help.
I adjusted the processor power down to 80% and I believe I notice the voltages come down a bit. I still get voltage spikes up to 1.520 volts at times but seem to be only when running very tasking programs like msfs 2020.
ill leave it like this and hope chip survives until hp releases intel's microcode fix.
another question I have though is my overclock in omen gaming hub says default 57. I have never touched any overlock settings in omen gaming hub. Is 57 good to leave or is it possible to lower that multiplier to calm cpu down further?
thanks
Doug

Unless I am mistaken, the processor %80 overrides any gaming hub overclocking.
I do not have an Omen so am guessing.
See what the tool cpuz and gpuz shows for real time processor speed and temperatures. You might compare them to what the hub shows. I would not have expected any overclocking due to win11 power plan.
The multiple shown below (the 38) would never get to 45 if %80 was a real limit.
Verify CPU speed using this tool (CPU-Z)
You might be able to check for GPU/CPU temperature problems using this tool (GPU-Z) and selecting 'sensors'

The task manager can show a problem such as CPU or GPU running at %100 load or not having enough memory

Thank you for your help. It looks like omen gaming hub or however HP has the HL 45 set up is not allowing the processor power level within the power plan to take affect. I looked at Hwinfo and see that it’s still getting close to 6ghrz boost speed at times.
so I guess the other recourse I can look into would be the overclocking tab of the Omen gaming hub. I kind of want to leave it at default as I have not touched it but since it is at 57X, maybe that can be tweaked down a bit. I may look into that but as is my CPU doesn’t really go much over 1.5 V so I may leave it as is.
Also, from my understanding, the bios is pretty much locked down as I have not even tried to look at what is there. So from my understanding, I either leave it as is or maybe I play around with the overclocking in gaming hub.
