I HAVE AN HP PAVILION TP01-3007na DESKTOP PC  which has a serious fault with the internal burner in that it stops burning after about 10-15 minutes and then it shows this on the screen  COULD NOT WRITE TO DEVICE  , after which it still tries to finish the burning process but all that it can do is RECORDING DVD FAILED  and VIDEO DVD NOT RECORDED SUCCESSFULLY .  The srore has sent the computer to the UK twice to be repaired , but when the computer comes back fixed it still has the same problem ,it will not burn any DVDs . Is there anyone in the community that has had this problem and managed to sort it out before starting  WORLD WAR 3 or getting HP  or the store who sold it in the first place  .  TELSTAR1

Hi @TELSTAR1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a persistent and frustrating issue with the DVD burner on your HP Pavilion TP01-3007na desktop PC. Here are some steps and suggestions that might help resolve the problem:

Troubleshooting Steps

Update Firmware and Drivers:

  • Ensure that your DVD drive's firmware is up to date. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP support website.
  • Also, make sure your system drivers, especially those related to the motherboard and the DVD drive, are up to date.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Sometimes, burning software can conflict with each other. Make sure you are using only one DVD burning software.
  • Try different burning software (e.g., Nero, ImgBurn, or CDBurnerXP) to see if the issue persists.

Test with Different Media:

  • Different brands and types of DVDs can yield different results. Try using high-quality blank DVDs from reputable brands.
  • Check the compatibility of the DVD media with your burner.

Check for Overheating:

  • DVD burners can sometimes overheat, especially during long burning sessions. Ensure that your desktop is in a well-ventilated area and that the internal fans are working properly.
  • Consider using a cooling pad or additional cooling solutions if overheating is suspected.

Perform Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Use HP's built-in hardware diagnostic tools to check if there are any hardware issues with the DVD drive.
  • You can access the diagnostics from the BIOS or download the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool from the HP support website.

Reinstall or Replace the Drive:

  • If the drive itself is faulty, reinstalling it might help. Open your PC case and re-seat the DVD drive, ensuring all connections are secure.
  • As a last resort, consider replacing the DVD burner with a new one. They are relatively inexpensive and might solve your problem if the current drive is defective.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
