OK.

Download and install this free file utility.

The 2nd one at the top of the page is for 64 bit.

https://www.7-zip.org/

Then download and save the Intel graphics driver again if you need it.

Do not run it this time.

After you save the Intel graphics driver file, right click on it, and select 7-Zip from the list of items.

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the driver exe file into its folder name.

Once that is done, go to the device manager, click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category.

Click on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Click on Have Disk, and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created>Graphics>igdlh64 (setup information file), and see if the driver installs that way.

If it does, restart the PC.

Then the PC's graphics should be fine with or without W8.1 finding an updated driver.

Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of your PC?

The product number can be found on the same label as the serial number.

There are hundreds of different model HP PC's that use that motherboard.

I can also tell you up front that any BIOS update file for that motherboard will not be written to run on W8.1, so I have no idea what will happen if you try to run the BIOS flash on an unsupported operating system.

They can only be run in Windows.

You're very welcome.

As long as you have a way to reinstall W8.1, yes you can do that.

Reinstalling W8.1 will not make the BIOS update disappear.
