HP ENVY h8-1409
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I currently have a EVGA 750 ti installed with no problems with this motherboard. The BIOS on this board is listed as UEFI with a version of AMI 8.21 with a date of 10-21-2014.

Will I be able to upgrade to the GTX 10xx series such as a 1060 or perhaps a RX 480 without any outdated BIOS issues? I know some older HP motherboards couldn't even boot up a GTX 7xx series card due to an outdated BIOS that HP did not update.

Hi,

You said the board is listed with AMI 8.21. Did you verify that your PC is running AMI 8.21?

You shouldn't have a problem running the newer graphics cards if your PC is running a version 8 BIOS. Check to be sure that the selected card will fit and is a match to the power supply in your PC.
