Hi, I'm inquiring here about the compatibility of the larger NVMe M.2 SSD.
This is the HP EliteDesk 800 G3 DM 35W mini desktop computer.
I am mostly interested in the 1 TB internal SSD.
Processor Intel Core i5-6500T and device serial number 8CG841694L
So it is a 35 watt version, equipped with a 65W voltage source.
I'm asking about this because I'm not an expert with this type of computer.
Based on the search results I gathered, here are the HP EliteDesk 800 G3 DM mini 35W M.2 slot specifications:
Form factor: M.2 2280 M key (PCIe x4)
Interface: PCIe 3.0 x4
Key: M key (supports NVMe SSDs)
Capacity: Supports up to 1 TB SSDs
Speed: Up to 32 Gb/s (PCIe 3.0 x4)
Power: Supports up to 12 W power consumption
In addition, the M.2 slot is designed for NVMe SSDs and supports:
SATA III (6 Gb/s) compatibility with older SSDs
PCIe 3.0 x4 for faster NVMe SSDs
Note ! This information is based on the search results I found and may not be exhaustive or up-to-date.
I have already received an answer from some different sellers that tells there is no way to install NVMe M.2.
On the other hand, the sellers have also told me that there is a place for an SSD in my machine, but there is no information about the compatibility of a larger memory.
A 256 GB internal SSD is currently installed.
Information about the installed and used SSD:
HP P/N: 862996-003
Samsung Electronics CO., LTD.
Model: UGLHQ0129BB0HB
MSIP-REM-SEC-MZ-VLW1T00
pm961 nvmE
It works perfectly.
Located under the hard drive caddy for 2.5" hard drives.

Hi:
That shouldn't be a problem at all as I have the same model 800 G3 35W DM PC and installed a Samsung 980 1 TB MVMe SSD in it.
Works great.
Page 17 of the HP 800 G3 PC Quickspecs indicates that HP offered 1 TB NVMe SSD's in the Desktop Mini.
HP Elite 800 G3 Business Desktop Business PCs
Also, M.2 SATA SSD's are not supported. NVMe only.

When trying to find this, HP 1TB Turbo Drive G2 PCIe TLC SSD Drive, product it is quite expensive.
Maybe going after SAMSUNG 980 SSD 1TB PCle 3.0x4, NVMe M.2 2280,
Internal Solid State Drive, Storage for PC, Laptops,
Gaming and More, HMB Technology, Intelligent Turbowrite,
Speeds of up-to 3,500MB/s, MZ-V8V1T0B/AM.
Thank you for information.

You're very welcome.
I would also bet you that the Samsung drive has better read/write specs than the HP drive.
Also, anyone that buys a HP-branded drive always has problems getting warranty support if the drive fails during the warranty period.
