I am purchasing a Samsung 4TB 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 Internal SSD and using a PCIE M2 adapter card with heat sink. Currently I boot from Samsung MZVKW512HMJP-000H1 SSD drive that is in slot 1 (PCIe3 x8). For now, I will continue to boot from that drive. I have HP Z840 workstation with Windows 10.
Questions:
1. I plan to install the drive in slot 6 (PCIe3 x16 long length). Is that the best slot to use?
2. In one video, it mentions going to BIOS setup and setting PCIE Training to Reset and enabling Early Reset Delay. I wasn't sure if this is necessary if I am not booting from the new drive (for now).
3. If I decide later to boot from the new drive, is the basic procedure to clone my boot drive to the new drive and set that as the new boot drive? And change the above BIOS settings. Am I missing any steps?
EDIT: After doing more research, it appears that I may not be able to boot form the Samsung 990 drive. If anyone has successfully done this, please let me know.
Thanks for expert advice.
