Hi @Jos015

Welcome to the HP support community.

we do not recommend this however, Yes, you can install an extra SSD in your HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-3000i, provided there are available slots for expansion. Here’s how to approach this:

1. Check Compatibility

  • M.2 Slot: Check if your motherboard (HP89B5A) has an available M.2 slot for NVMe SSDs. Most newer HP Pavilion desktops support M.2 SSDs.
  • 2.5-inch SATA Slot: If there’s no M.2 slot available, you can install a 2.5-inch SATA SSD if you have an open SATA connector and mounting space.

2. Recommended SSDs

If you have confirmed the type of SSD you can install, here are suitable options:

For M.2 NVMe SSDs:

  • Samsung 970 EVO Plus: Known for high speed and reliability.
  • Crucial P5 Plus: Offers good performance at a competitive price.
  • Western Digital Black SN750: Another high-performance option.

For 2.5-inch SATA SSDs:

  • Samsung 860 EVO or 870 EVO: Excellent performance and reliability.
  • Crucial MX500: Great value and solid performance.
  • Western Digital Blue 3D NAND: Reliable and offers good performance.

3. Installation Steps

  1. Power Off: Completely shut down your computer and unplug it.
  2. Open the Case: Remove the side panel of your desktop.
  3. Locate the Slot: Find the M.2 slot or the SATA connector based on your chosen SSD type.
  4. Install the SSD:
    • For M.2: Insert the SSD at a slight angle into the slot and secure it with a screw.
    • For SATA: Connect the SSD to the SATA port and secure it in place.
  5. Reconnect and Power On: Put the case back together, reconnect the power, and boot up your computer.
  6. Click here

4. Initialize the SSD

Once installed, you’ll need to initialize and format the new SSD:

  1. Open Disk Management: Right-click the Start button and select "Disk Management."
  2. Initialize the Disk: Follow the prompts to initialize and format the SSD.

5. Check BIOS Settings

Ensure that the BIOS recognizes the new SSD. You can access BIOS by pressing F10 during boot.
