Hello guys, i have installed 8GB 1600mHz ram in my 6300 Microtower PC. The specs list says that it supports 1600Mhz memory but after i installing it, it is running in 1333mHz only. I remember that in other motherboards, there used to be an option to over clock the memory and a preset like XMP Profile 1. But this PC doesn't have it. Then how could i make it to run in 1600mHz? I'm pretty sure there must be a way because it is listed in specs sheet. Please help me to solve this issue.

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
Two possible situations can do this:
Adding a 1600 MHz memory module when a 1333 MHz module is also installed on the system board.
Some processor options are limited to 1333 MHZ, a i7-3770 supports 1600 MHZ but a G870 or a i3-2130 only support up to 1333 MHZ.
Mixing memory modules may throttle the faster memory module. Some processors that are compatible with your PC's system board are limited to 1333 MHz.

The two possible siuations are actually not the case for me.
I have i5 3470 processor which supports 1600mHz.
And i have a single 8GB RAM that is 1600mHz.
The same processor and RAM used to run in 1600mHz in other motherboard which has memory overclock options.
But this motherboard's BIOS seems to restricting the ram to run in 1333mHz even though Hardware is capable of doing it

Hi,
Well, maybe your motherboard does not the brand of memory you are using or there may be a BIOS update to fix this.
Have you checked for any BIOS updates?
Are you populating the correct memory slot per HP guidelines? You can review memory specs on page 62 in the service guide for your PC (Link).
Your MB supports dual channel mode when memory slots are populated correctly.

The current BIOS version is K01 v02.90 which is very old version.
The latest one is 00.03.07 Rev.A (Jun 20, 2018).
I copied that image file to pendrive and tried to flash it using the exisiexi utility in BIOS settings. But after after selecting the file, I'm getting this error: INCOMPATIBLE ROM IMAGE.
What's wrong? There are several versions between the current version and the latest one. Do i have to increment the versions one by one instead of directly jumping to latest?

Hi,
I don't know why the memory is not running at the rated speed.
Maybe your motherboard does not like the RAM you have purchased. The memory should run at 1600 MHz if you have 1600 MHz memory and it is installed correctly. Dual channel memory normally needs to be installed in pairs.
Download and run CPU-Z (Link) to check memory speed and timings.

All the specs of RAM is same as the requirements of HP Compaq Pro 6300 Microtower PC.
I found similar thread discussing about the same issue: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/How-to-Increase-RA...
This is the RAM i'm using: https://www.amazon.in/G-SKILL-Ripjaws-240-Pin-Desktop-F3-12800CL10S-8GBXL/dp/B0065HOT2W/ref=sr_1_4?i...
