Pavilion 590 p0020
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Earlier today I finally received my 310W PSU that was of a 590 p-0066 to put into my p0020. I also Installed my GPU, an RX 550 4gb Low Profile. Everything is working fine however there is a High pitch noise from the PSU that can be heard in Intervals but can mostly be heard while the Desktop is Idle, and oddly enough, Does not happen at when i'm running an Application or Game

If this is a Bad thing, Should I take out my GPU and New PSU and put the old one back in, a Sign of too much power draw or Is the PSU still being "Broken in"

Any response any time soon would be Very Helpful as its Very Loud

Edit: ill Update if anything happens

Okay well after a while I got curious and took a look inside to see if there was something interfering with the fan or brushing up against something. Moved some cables around, reseated some Wires. everything is all good now. But thank you for taking the time to respond, even if it was a simple fix as movings wires

@AAThompson,

Under no circumstance should it "whine". While I do not have an answer to the "noise", those 310W come in 3 different numbers. Which did you get?

When i went to buy a new PSU via the Hp parts store, it was the only one listed under the p0066

-GNRC PSU 310w SFF ENtl18 FR Gold

Part number - L10875-800

At the moment the sound seems to be gone. but ill make sure to update the post if anything happens or if it returns

-When running an Application or a Game, the sound pretty much goes away, it can be heard while idle on the desktop

@AAThompson,

Just a question to you, IF your still around.  You have the Sunflower motherboard.  Did the mounting screws line-up on the rear. Any problems?  The original listed PSU is the L8660-800 (180W) and your new unit just happened to be the L10875-800 (Rating Gold efficiency 310W).

I would really like so see a pic of the rear of both PSU's, and your final mounting.
